Some are a history of a specific structure or people like the ‘Saltash Ferry’, or ‘Anne Glanville’, others are general history of the areas of the town or to compliment the themed exhibitions in Saltash Heritage Museum.

A number of DVD’s are available illustrating the town in years gone by.

The Local Heritage Centre also produce data sheets on local events, people structures and are always able to help researchers on any subject related to Saltash or the local area

T.S.Mount Edgucmbe by Bruce Hunt

Training Ship for Homeless and Destitute Boys

£12.95

The Training Ship Mount Edgcumbe lay at anchor off Saltash for over 40 years, just up river from Brunel’s Royal Albert Bridge. Although a familiar landmark to the people of Saltash, there was little detailed information about the ship. It is thought that most of the records were retained by the last Superintendent, Captain Harkcom, and destroyed in WW2.

Recent research into the ship by Bruce Hunt has enabled the ships story and its relationship with Saltash to be told for the first time.

The Waterside                  A stroll around the streets, beach and waterside area of Saltash in old photographs. See how the area has changed by comparing original photographs with those taken today.

About the town                 Fore Street and the surrounding area are continually changing Can you recall what it looked like before the road bridge and tunnel opened?

Where we live                 What was once the outskirts of Saltash is now part of the town. Many of the houses have changed little in 100 years – or have they?

Around and about           As Saltash expanded new housing was required. Many areas changed to accommodate the expanding and ever busier road network and increasing population. A look how this changed Saltash (or didn’t) over the years.

Forder                             Forder was once a busy industrial area, now it's a picturesque village in a conservation area. The story of Forder is told with help of many of its residents

It will be over by Christmas by Bruce Hunt

On 28th July 1914 Great Britain went to war.

Although emphasis is usually concentrated on the land war in Europe, it really was a WORLD WAR affecting most countries and all corners of the globe.

When hostilities ended on the 11th November 1918 it is estimated that there were 16 million dead and 20 million wounded. British dead totalled 995,939 with 1,663,435 wounded.

The war affected everyone; this book looks at Saltash, before, during and after the war.
